--------- Case study: Green card case-------
The client said he’d been to another attorney, and that attorney lost his case to get a green card. After listening to his complex situation, I told him his chances of getting a green card were very low. Some clients aren’t happy to hear that, but I always want to be honest about their chances.
I also said I would do some research to see if there was a way to get his green card. After researching, I found an unusual way that he could get his green card. And I helped him get a work permit so he could get a driver’s license and work legally during the process.
His case turned out to be one of the most complex ones of my career, so I felt extremely happy when he got his green card.

--------- Case study: Marijuana Case-------
Some immigration cases require thinking outside of the box. For instance, a client was convicted of possessing 28.5g or more of marijuana. While he may have had more marijuana than 28.5 grams, there was no exact amount of marijuana noted anywhere on his criminal conviction documents. Immigration had my client in their custody based on his drug conviction. I went to work.
There is a waiver in Immigration cases for someone who is convicted of possessing 30 grams or less of marijuana. I argued for the waiver. The government objected and tried to find proof of the amount my client , but they could not. He was released immigration custody and his immigration case was closed.
